Cabell Huntington (W.Va.) Hospital and Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant, W.Va., began exclusive discussions concerning a partnership.

2. Cleveland Clinic, CHS Work Toward Akron General Purchase
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and Cleveland Clinic entered into exclusive negotiations concerning a joint venture purchase of certain Akron (Ohio) General Health System assets.

3. Hutcheson Medical, Erlanger Health Plan to End Partnership
Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System decided to end their partnership.

4. Bert Fish, HMA Sign Letter of Intent
Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates signed a letter of intent with the Southeast Volusia Hospital District to enter into a long-term lease with Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

6. Native American Tribe Buys Okmulgee Memorial Hospital
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation, one of the largest Native American tribes in Oklahoma, acquired Okmulgee (Okla.) Memorial Hospital.
