The following hospital mergers, acquisitions and general transactions took place within the past week.
1. Geisinger Health System, Holy Spirit Health System affiliation approved
The Pennsylvania Attorney General and the Pennsylvania Department of Health approved an affiliation between Camp Hill, Pa.-based Holy Spirit Health System and Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System.
2. Hackensack University Health Network, Meridian Health to merge
Hackensack (N.J.) University Health Network and Neptune, N.J-based Meridian Health signed a memorandum of understanding to consider merging.
3. TriHealth, McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital agree to affiliate
Cincinnati-based TriHealth and McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio signed a letter of intent to affiliate.
4. Alecto Healthcare Services to acquire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ
For profit Alecto Healthcare Services, headquartered in Los Angeles, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 237-bed Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ in Sherman.
5. Prime Healthcare Services to acquire majority of Carondelet Health's facilities
Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services signed a definitive agreement to acquire hospitals, long-term care facilities and other assets of Carondelet Health in Kansas City, Mo., which is part of St. Louis-based Ascension.
6. Baptist Health to partner with University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Fla., signed a letter of intent to partner with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
