1. Duke LifePoint to Acquire Conemaugh Health System
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare signed a letter of intent to create a joint venture with Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, Pa., giving the system its first presence in Pennsylvania.
2. Northwestern Memorial, Cadence Health to Merge
Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in Chicago and Cadence Health in Winfield, Ill., signed a letter of intent to merge, marking Cadence's second attempt to attract a partner.
3. Hospital Sisters Looks to Take Full Ownership of Community Memorial
Hospital Sisters Health System, based in Springfield, Ill., and Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls, Wis., signed a letter of intent to expand their partnership.
4. Illinois Board OKs Passavant, Memorial Health Affiliation
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board unanimously approved a proposed affiliation between Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill., and Memorial Health System, based in Springfield, Ill.
5. University of Texas Medical Branch, Angleton Danbury to Explore Partnership
Angleton (Texas) Danbury Medical Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston signed a letter of intent to explore a possible long-term, formal relationship.
6. Rural Hospital Firm to Manage Cooper County Memorial Hospital
Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville, Mo., signed a management agreement with Kansas City, Mo.-based Rural Community Hospitals of America.
