2 LifePoint Hospitals in Virginia Create Regional System

Memorial Hospital of Martinsville (Va.) and Henry County and Danville (Va.) Regional Medical Center have combined to form a regional health system, according to a Martinsville Bulletin report.

Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals owns both facilities. The resulting system is not a merger or combination of assets and only a collaboration, according to the report.

Executives at the 237-bed Memorial and 250-bed Danville Regional said a major benefit of the system will be ties to Duke LifePoint Healthcare, a joint venture between LifePoint and Duke University Health System in Durham, N.C. Memorial expects to start gaining best practices from the Duke LifePoint partnership, which Danville Regional has already done.
