The following hospital mergers, acquisitions and general transactions took place within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Novant Health, Morehead Memorial Announce Shared Services Agreement
Novant Health in Winston-Salem, N.C., struck an agreement with Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C., to work together within Novant Health Shared Services.

2. Unity Health System, Rochester General to Form New Health System
Unity Health System, based in Rochester, N.Y., and Rochester (N.Y.) General Health System jointly filed a certificate of need application to create a new health system.

3. California AG Approves 2 Hospital Transactions
The office of Kamala Harris, California's attorney general, gave the green light to two separate nonprofit hospital transactions: the sale of Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, Calif., to Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. and the acquisition of Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica by Providence Health & Services, Southern California.

4. Highmark's Saint Vincent, Titusville Area Hospital Engage in Affiliation Talks
Saint Vincent Health System in Erie, Pa., and Titusville (Pa.) Area Hospital signed a "collaborative agreement" and will evaluate partnership options during the next three months.

5. Mackinac Straits Health System Ponders Affiliation With MidMichigan Health
Affiliation discussions began between MidMichigan Health, a four-hospital system based in Midland, Mich., and Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace, Mich.

6. State Regulators Approve Western Connecticut Health Network, Norwalk Affiliation
Western Connecticut Health Network, based in Danbury, and Norwalk (Conn.) Health Services Corp. are moving ahead with an affiliation after receiving state approval.

7. UCSF, Children's Hospital Oakland Reach Partnership Agreement
UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco and Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland (Calif.) completed their affiliation.

8. Allegheny Health, Johns Hopkins Cancer Center to Affiliate

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh and Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Medicine signed a memorandum of understanding to create a formal affiliation between Allegheny and the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.

9. FTC: CHS Must Sell 2 Hospitals to Complete HMA Deal
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems received major approval from the Federal Trade Commission to acquire competitor Health Management Associates in Naples, Fla. However, the FTC mandated CHS divest two hospitals to receive full antitrust approval.

10. Orlando Health, University of Florida to Partner on Cancer Care
Orlando (Fla.) Health and University of Florida Health in Gainesville partnered to create a comprehensive cancer care program.

11. North Shore-LIJ, Boca Raton Regional Create Unique Alliance
North Shore-LIJ Health System in Great Neck, N.Y., and Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital — two providers situated more than 1,000 miles apart — signed a three-year affiliation agreement.

12. Offer Made for Purchase of Natchez Regional Medical Center
The Natchez (Miss.) Regional Medical Center board received an offer for the purchase of the hospital.

13. Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Mt. Ascutney Hospital Agree to Affiliation Terms
Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon, N.H., and Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, Vt., signed an affiliation agreement, building off an existing management services agreement.
