Eleven healthcare organizations joined together to create the Philadelphia-based Strategic Regional Healthcare Organizations, The National Association, to better address patients' needs and respond to the changing industry landscape.
The founding members of the organization include Appleton, Wis.-based AboutHealth, Columbus, Ohio-based Midwest Health Collaborative and Raleigh, N.C.-based Socius Health Solutions, along with nine other regional collaboratives.
The association's goal is for all members to share best practices, enable innovation and serve as an advocacy organization on a national level.
Officials said they hope the association will grow to encompass more than 600 hospitals, foster the development and use of shared services among its members to reduce costs and explore high-value collaborative solutions for employers within the next year.
