The merger between RMH Healthcare in Harrisonburg, Va., and Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare is finalized, according to a Sentara news release.
Through the merger, Sentara will invest in programs and services to help Rockingham Memorial Hospital meet the needs of the community. Sentara said any funds raised through the RMH Foundation will remain local and benefit RMH's mission.
While the official closing date for the merger is expected to be around May 1, integrating operations, IT technologies, business practices and workplace cultures may take up to a year, according to the report.
The 238-bed RMH is the ninth hospital to join Sentara Healthcare's system.
