The University of Louisville (Ky.) Hospital and Louisville-based Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare are in discussions to create a formal partnership that could include a merger of operations, according to a report by Business First.
JHSMH manages 517-bed Jewish Hospital and 331-bed Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. The two groups have previously partnered — they jointly operate the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute in downtown Louisville, according to the report.
JHSMH recently reported a loss of nearly $18 million for 2009 and the first three months of 2010.
