Prime Healthcare Switches California's Montclair Hospital to Non-Profit

Prime Healthcare Services has converted its Montclair (Calif.) Hospital Medical Center to a non-profit, operated under the Prime Healthcare Foundation umbrella, according to a Prime news release.

The conversion went into effect Dec. 31, 2010. The decision to make the 102-bed Montclair a non-profit was based on the providers' desire to better serve residents and surrounding communities, according to the release.

Prime's Encino (Calif.) Hospital Medical Center saw a similar conversion in 2009. PHF now operates two acute care hospitals, Encino and Montclair, while the PHS continues to operate 12.
