Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services has withdrawn its bid for Woonsocket, R.I.-based Landmark Medical Center, according to a Providence Journal report.
PHS' withdrawal follows that of Franklin, Tenn.-based Transition Healthcare, which leaves only Brentwood, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners as a bidder. According to the report, PHS said it withdrew its bid because of an inability to make an agreement with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. However, Blue Cross spokeswoman Laura Calenda said they had reached an agreement on May 6.
Jonathan N. Savage, the court-appointed special master to find a buyer for Landmark, has started to talk with other prospective buyers, according to the release. Although the original March 28 deadline for choosing a bidder has been extended multiple times, no bidders have met the requirements of the Superior Court judge, who is overseeing the sale process. RegionalCare has not reached an agreement with United Nurses and Allied Professionals or Blue Cross.
A court hearing is scheduled for May 27.
