Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed Health and Hospitals has submitted an offer to purchase Rex Healthcare, also based in Raleigh, from Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care, according to a WakeMed news release
WakeMed is offering $750 million for Rex Healthcare. The company believes combining the organizations would eliminate duplication of services, providing a better continuity of care and better access to a broader range of services. The purchase would also provide UNC Health Care a "significant percent return on investment," according to the release.
