The merger of Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash., with Bellevue, Wash.-based PeaceHealth is expected to clear its last hurdle by gaining the approval of Washington Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler, according to a The Columbian report.
Commissioner Kreidler will decide whether Columbia United Providers, a subsidiary of Southwest that is a licensed health insurer serving Medicaid patients, can be acquired by PeaceHealth.
A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, and officials reviewing the proposal expect the commissioner to approve the deal.
If approved, the merger of PeaceHealth and Southwest will be complete by early 2011.
