FTC Drops Request for Restraining Order on ProMedica, St. Luke's Merger

The Federal Trade Commission has withdrawn its request for a temporary restraining order against the merger of St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio, and Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica Health System, according to a WTOL report.

ProMedica said it has reached a less restrictive agreement with the FTC until a preliminary injunction hearing next month.

ProMedica announced the acquisition in May 2010 and finalized it on Aug. 31, but the FTC put the deal is under a "hold-separate" in October, meaning that the hospital and health system had to delay integration.
