Taunton, Mass.-based Morton Hospital and Medical Center has decided to sell to Boston's Steward Health Care System over New Bedford, Mass.-based Southcoast Health System, according to a Taunton Daily Gazette report.
The sale will net Taunton approximately $1 million in property taxes. The acquisition is also expected to improve technology, equipment, quality and range of care at MHMC, which will now be for-profit.
