Arnot Ogden, St. Joseph's Merger Approved

New York's Public Health and Health Planning Council has approved the certificate of need application to consolidate Arnot Ogden Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital, both in Elmira, N.Y., according to an Arnot Health news release.

Arnot Ogden Medical Center, St. Joseph's Hospital and Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath, N.Y., will now work to form a non-profit regional healthcare system. The new system, Arnot Health, will include 493 beds and nearly 2,900 employees. As the three hospitals create this system, they will merge certain administrative and management services and reconfigure inpatient and outpatient services to maximize efficiency.

The PHHPC's approval included several contingencies, such as the completion of the $19 million HEAL 19 grant for the organization.
