When House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot at the Republican congressional baseball team's practice Wednesday morning, Rep. Brad Wenstrup, DPM, R-Ohio, jumped into action to stop the bleeding, according to a report from CNN.
Dr. Wenstrup is a podiatrist and Iraq War veteran. On Twitter he compared the event as similar to Iraq.
You never expect a baseball field in America to feel like being back in a combat zone in Iraq, but this morning it did.

Mr. Scalise was shot in the hip while standing on second base when a gunman opened fire on the baseball practice, according to The New York Times. Mr. Scalise was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for surgery. Four other victims, including police, were treated at hospitals, according to the report.
The gunman died in a shootout with police on the scene, according to the report. He was identified as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill. The New York Times reported he was vehemently opposed to the Trump administration and had posted the Facebook comment, "It's time to destroy Trump & co," with a petition calling for President Donald Trump's impeachment. He was also reportedly a volunteer for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign.
