As part of a multi-year agreement, Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare will open access to healthcare services at all its hospitals and outpatient centers to Cigna-insured individuals and create clinically integrated organizations and accountable care organizations through Cigna's collaborative accountable care model, according to a news release.
The agreement will allow independent physicians aligned with Tenet-sponsored clinically integrated organizations and ACOs to participate in patient-centered medical homes, bundled payment models and a "physician-driven pay-for-performance" incentive program.
Additionally, a Medicare Advantage company Cigna owns — Nashville, Tenn.-based HealthSpring — struck a deal with Tenet to give HealthSpring customers access to Tenet hospitals in Texas.
