Williamsport, Pa.-based Susquehanna Health has affiliated with Cleveland Clinic's Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute, combining Cleveland Clinic's academic, clinical and research components with Susquehanna Health's regional cardiac services.
Through the affiliation, Susquehanna Health's patients will have greater access to heart surgery clinical trials and research opportunities offered by Cleveland Clinic. Additionally, physicians with Susquehanna Health's Heart & Vascular Institute will visit Cleveland to view the system's operations, and the two organization's heart and vascular clinical staffs will have "weekly regular communications," according to a news release.
"I look forward to incorporating [Cleveland Clinic's] best practices and learning from our peers at Cleveland Clinic," Michael Lazar, MD, medical director of Susquehanna Heart & Vascular Institute, said in the release. "Our patients will benefit from this affiliation as we grow our knowledge of cardiac care and the new treatments and therapies we can offer."
