Residents of North St. Louis County may soon be able to access healthcare services on their daily commute.
The Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District, which operates Metro Transit in St. Louis, is conducting a feasibility study on health clinics at transit stations for MetroBus and MetroLink, the bus and railway systems, according to Fox 2 Now St. Louis.
"This will bring the healthcare closer to the community, particularly for those who are transit dependent," said John Wagner, B-State project manager, according to the report. If the feasibility study shows the idea would work, St. Louis' Metro Transit would be the first in the country to put health clinics at train stops.
The approximately $42,000 study is funded by the Missouri Foundation for Health, according to the report. It is slated for completion by May 2016.
