St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis has entered into an agreement to employ physicians from The Heart Specialty Associates, also in St. Louis, to create The Heart Specialty Center at St. Anthony's Medical Center, according to a news release by the hospital.
The partnership will allow the group's 11-physicians to work directly with the hospital to improve and coordinate heart care.
St. Anthony's patients will realize the benefits of increased efficiency, better-coordinated patient care, decreased lengths of stay, reduced potential for readmissions and decreased complications and mortality, said David Morton, MD, clinical director of The Heart Specialty Associates and medical director of The Heart Specialty Center.
The physician component of the partnership includes invasive and non-invasive cardiologists, interventional cardiologists and cardiac electrophysiologists. Additionally, nurse practitioners, nurses, nuclear medicine, ultrasound technicians and office staff will be transitioned into the new practice to handle outpatient cardiology services.They will be based at St. Anthony', with an additional office in Kirkwood, Mo.
