Nashville, Tenn.-based AmSurg announced its physician services division Sheridan will acquire Atlanta-based Northside Anesthesiology Consultants. The move marks Sheridan's first foray into anesthesiology in Georgia.
NAC is a 60-physician group and the exclusive anesthesiology provider for the three-hospital, Atlanta-based Northside Hospital Healthcare System. NAC additionally employs 125 anesthetists and other clinical and administrative staff.
"We are appreciative of NAC's vote of confidence and selection of Sheridan as its partner. In an increasingly complex and demanding healthcare environment, we believe Sheridan can provide NAC with vital delivery platform components, expertise and resources, all backed by a shared, physician-centric culture. We look forward to working with NAC's outstanding team to continue providing high quality care and to expanding our new presence in this large market," Robert Coward, president of Sheridan and chief development officer for AmSurg, said in a statement.
