San Antonio's Methodist Healthcare May Acquire Cardiology Group

Methodist Healthcare System of San Antonio may soon acquire Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio, a 23-physician cardiology group, according to a report by the San Antonio Express-News.

While the deal has not been completed, Methodist, which is jointly owned by HCA and Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, created a corporate entity called Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio last month, according to the report.

The potential merger is part of a nationwide trend of physician practices, especially cardiology practices, integrating with health systems.
