Retired physicians are donning their white coats once more to help ease staffing shortages, CBS Bay Area reported April 5.
A San Francisco-based nonprofit CoGenerate created a program that brings older and younger physicians together to solve problems. As part of the program, retired physicians work part time in Bay Area community clinics for a year.
"Going back to [Vallejo, Calif.-based] La Clinica and working for the community is very rewarding to me," Myngoc Nguyen, MD, told CBS Bay Area, adding that "It's my calling."
She said she hopes other physicians will join the program.
