MedeAnalytics released research at the HIMSS11 Annual Conference & Exhibition revealing that for providers and payors, the Medicare Shared Savings Program and competition are the main drivers for developing commercial ACOs, according to a news release.
Payors marked the top challenges for ACOs as financial implications and agreement on quality and cost/efficiency measures. Providers noted that electronic medical records are essential for forming ACOs.
These results reflect responses from senior executives in integrated delivery networks, physician practices and commercial payors who formed or are planning to form commercial ACOs within a year.
