Cincinnati-based Oncology Hematology Care, Cincinnati's sixth largest physician group, brought in three new business leaders this year from Procter & Gamble to help maintain their independence and grow, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier.
Former P&G Director of North American Healthcare Customer Business Development Rick Schiano stepped into the role as OHCs' CEO on Jan. 1, followed shortly by appointments of former P&G executives David Popp and Michael Leavy to roles as vice president of business operations and vice president of marketing, communication and business development, respectively.
"I'm a doctor, a medical oncologist. I do bone-marrow transplants, but I don't do business. What I learned quickly was these business guys have a skill set. I brought [Schiano] in to run the business. He reports to me. One of our goals is that this be a physician-led, independent oncology group," Randolph Broun, MD, chairman of the board of OHC and interim CEO, told the Cincinnati Business Courier.
OHC has 52 physicians. It is re-evaluating its growth strategy and considering acquiring other Ohio physician practices, according to the report.
