Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) General Hospital, part of the Wyoming Valley Health Care System, has acquired Intermountain Medical Group, a multispecialty practice, according to a news release by the health system.

As part of the deal, the practice's 52 physicians will become part of the health system. Wilkes-Barre will take over the group's nearly 30 locations, including its diagnostic imaging center, diagnostic lab, physical therapy center and sleep lab.

According to Mark Stephens, CEO of IMG, the "agreement with Wilkes-Barre General Hospital will allow our organizations to grow and to develop the level of clinical integration to meet the demanding challenges of healthcare reform."

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
