Physician assistants have the best job in America right now based on the number of job openings, earning potential and career opportunities, according to career site Glassdoor.
According to Glassdoor's analysis, there are more than 45,000 job openings for PAs. They earn an average annual base salary of $111,376, and the role is associated with high career opportunities, with employees rating the job 3.5 out of five for opportunities. The analysis scores across these three categories, using ratings and information provided by U.S. employees on Glassdoor.com, and the job openings are derived from Glasdoor's listings over the past three months.
Most of the top 25 "Best Jobs in America" are technology based, but two other healthcare jobs made it to the top list: physical therapists and nurse practitioners.
Physical therapists were ranked No. 19, with more than 27,500 job openings, an average salary of $64,806, and a career opportunity rating of 3.2. Nurse practitioners earned a No. 24 spot on the list, with more than 15,000 job openings, an average salary of $95,171 and a career opportunity rating of 3.1.
