Nurse practitioners and physician assistants can now choose from a growing pool of job options as more healthcare organizations compete for hires, according to PracticeMatch, a company that provides recruiting resources to healthcare employers.
A survey of 1,070 advanced practice clinicians conducted by PracticeMatch indicates one in three NPs and PAs plan to look for a new job in the next few years. Within the next year, 16 percent of PAs and 19 percent of NPs plan to change jobs.
Here is what they look for in new opportunities, based on the survey.
- NPs, PAs unwilling to relocate any distance for a new job — 43 percent
- NPs, PAs willing to relocate outside of their geographic region — 20 percent
- Advanced practice clinicians who prefer to be contacted by employer, rather than a recruiting firm — 83 percent
