Northwestern Memorial Closes Physician Affiliation Deal

Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial HealthCare has closed its affiliation agreement with Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, the primary faculty practice for Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, effective Sept. 1.

 

As part of the deal, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation joins Northwestern Memorial Physician's Group and Lakeshore Medical Associates to form Northwestern Medical Group. The new group has more than 1,000 physicians and other healthcare professionals, making in one of the largest medical practices in Chicago, according to the news release.

"Our reputation for excellence [w]as built by working closely with our affiliated physicians groups and the Feinberg School of Medicine," Dean M. Harrison, president and CEO of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, said in the release. "We are pleased to welcome NMFF as a part of our health system as we begin an era of unprecedented collaboration and continue building on the foundation of success we've already achieved together."

Through integration, the system can better coordinate care across inpatient, diagnostic and physician office environments, according to the release.
