Dallas-based Methodist Health System's physician group officially rebranded Thursday, changing its name from MedHealth to Methodist Medical Group.
The name change is intended to help patients better understand that the physician group and the health system are affiliated. It also marks the physician group's growth and development into a larger, multi-specialty medical group.
"Over the past four years, our group has achieved tremendous growth, doubling in number of facilities," George Williams, MD, president of Methodist Medical Group said in a press release. "In many ways, the group's legal name failed to fully convey the evolution of the new multi-specialty group."
Under the new name, business will continue as usual. Methodist Medical Group will continue to serve the same 25 primary care facilities and family health centers, and 15 specialty groups and two charity-care locations.
