BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina and Key Physicians, an independent patient-centered medical home network based in Wake County, N.C., announced they are teaming up to launch an accountable care organization.
The ACO involves 48 medical practices across Wake County.
The partnership will work to reduce unnecessary hospital and emergency room visits. Physicians will share data in order to provide patients with higher quality care at less cost.
The ACO start date was not disclosed.
