Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Healthcare and insurer Humana have joined forces to create the first accountable care organization in the Louisville area, according to a Courier-Journal report.
The ACO was developed as part of the ACO Pilot Project Project of The Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. It is one of only four sites in the nation selected for the pilot, according to the report.
The ACO is expected to include approximately 10,000 Humana members, whose employers have agreed to participate in the pilot.
