Miami-based Jackson Health System is starting a new hospitalist program in partnership with the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami.
Under the program, FIU physicians and fourth-year students will do clinical rotations as hospitalists at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Jackson already has a partnership with University of Miami, in which UM provides roughly 90 percent of physicians at Jackson facilities.
"Jackson has a long-standing reputation as a premiere academic medical center and our evolving partnership with FIU will only make us stronger," Carlos Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System, said in the news release.
According to a South Florida Business Journal report, FIU already has a hospitalist program in place at Jackson North Medical Center in North Miami Beach, Fla.
