The Iowa Hospital Association will award 60 scholarships of up to $7,000 and $1,000 to students in emergency technology and technician certification educational programs.
The goal of the program is to fill notable numbers of open positions in the Iowa healthcare system, according to a Nov. 29 news release shared with Becker's. The students must be in an accredited program and within two years of completion.
The $7,000 scholarship recipients will receive $3,500 a year for up to two years. In return for the financial support, the $7,000 scholarship recipients will work for one year in an Iowa hospital for each year of the scholarship award and the $1,000 scholarship recipients will work one year with hospital-based or hospital-contracted emergency medical services. The application deadline is March 31.
