Newport Beach, Calif.-based Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Blue Shield of California and Greater Newport Physicians Medical Group have announced a three-year accountable care initiative, effective July 1.
Under the initiative, the organizations will share clinical and case management information, coordinate healthcare services and align incentives to reduce costs and improve quality. GNP Medical Group includes more than 500 physicians, who mainly deliver care at Hoag.
"We are pleased to collaborate with Greater Newport Physicians and Blue Shield of California to provide affordable health care for the community and employers in Orange County and, in turn, ensure they have access to the personalized care they expect from Hoag," Hoag President and CEO Richard Afable, MD, said in the release. "This collaboration allows us to continue to provide the highest quality care to the communities we serve, as one of Orange County's most trusted healthcare networks."
This will be Blue Shield of California's sixth commercial ACO. The arrangement is still subject to the approval of the California Department of Managed Health Care.
