Harvard Medical School, Southcentral Foundation partner on primary care programs

Boston-based Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care and Anchorage, Alaska-based Southcentral Foundation today announced plans to team up to improve primary care delivery through research and education.

The partnership will establish exchanges and leadership training between Harvard and SCF. Through a three-day training that focuses on relationship-building, values and perspectives, Harvard students will have the opportunity to study SCF's Nuka System of Care, which has significantly improved the health outcomes and reduced costs for Alaskan Natives. SCF will work with Harvard on its InciteHealth primary care initiative.

"We are thrilled to announce this partnership between SCF and the Center for Primary Care. Southcentral Foundation models the flexible, bold solutions that we need to solve our current crisis in primary care," Russ Phillips, MD, director of the Center for Primary Care, said in a statement.
