The Guardian Research Network has added four partner health systems including Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health, Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System, Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy and Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Healthcare System.
Here are three things to know about the additions.
1. By joining GRN, the four health systems, encompassing 76 hospitals in nine states, will be part of a national consortium of healthcare organizations that uses a data collection and warehousing system to gather information on hundreds of thousands of patients. This data is looked at with advanced healthcare research and analytic methods that result in bringing therapies specifically targeted to each patient's cancer, according to a news release.
2. Timothy Jahn, MD, chief clinical officer of Baptist Health, expressed excitement about becoming a member of the Guardian Research Network. "Participation in GRN offers Baptist cancer patients a personalized approach to the care and treatment of their disease in their own communities," he said in a news release.
3. GRN continues to invite community health systems to join this rapidly expanding consortium. By 2020, the GRN will encompass one million actionable patients with full clinical, imaging, laboratory and significant molecular profiles.
