Greenville (S.C.) Hospital System is set to acquire the Cancer Centers of the Carolinas, which includes 10 clinics, for $21.7 million, according to an Independent Mail report.
GHS' board of directors approved the purchase this week — an acquisition that has been in the works for roughly two years, according to the report. It will add 26 physicians to GHS' staff.
The system is discussing the development of a cancer center within the next few years, as the acquisition will increase the system's eligibility for National Cancer Institute designation.
The deal could be complete by mid-May, according to the report.
