UC San Diego Health System has received approval to acquire the Nevada Cancer Institute in Las Vegas as an affiliate healthcare provider, according to a health system news release.
UC San Diego NVCI will recruit medical and surgical oncologists and a physician-scientist to serve as director of the institute. The organizations also plan to collaborate with the local medical community to best meet the needs of local physicians and their patients.
UC San Diego Health System acquired NVCI with clinical revenue generated by its hospitals. Management services company Insight Oncology will help integrate the two organizations and provide operational oversight, according to the release.
