A two-alarm fire broke out at New York City-based Mount Sinai Hospital early July 7, which caused the hospital to go on full diversion status.
The fire broke out in the generator room in the basement around 12:30 a.m., the hospital said in a statement. Twenty patients were transported to other rooms and no injuries were reported.
More than 25 fire fighting units and 100 personnel responded and were able to get the fire under control within three hours, CBS News reported. It appears the fire was caused by an electrical issue.
The hospital is "on full diversion" Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine said in a tweet. "All elective procedures being rescheduled. Many outpatient clinics are canceling appointments today. Arriving ambulance being sent to other hospitals."
The hospital added in a statement to ABC7, "Mount Sinai Health System would like to express our sincerest gratitude to front line staff and FDNY first responders."
