San Francisco-based Blue Shield of California, Modesto, Calif.-based AllCare Independent Physician Association and Doctors Medical Center of Modesto have announced a three-year accountable care initiative for 8,000 HMO members, according to a joint news release.
The initiative will launch Jan. 1. The partners say they expect little to no increase in healthcare costs for the 8,000 Blue Cross HMO members in Sanislaus County in the program's first year. There may be low, single-digit increases in 2013 and 2014, however.
The healthcare entities will share clinical and case management information to coordinate services. Incentives will be aligned to improve quality and patient service while reducing costs. Preliminary work is already underway across the three organizations, and is expected to pick up speed in the coming months.
