Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, based in Lebanon, N.H., and Southwestern Vermont Health Care have formed an agreement to develop a multi-specialty physician group, according to a D-HH news release.
Bennington-based SVHC and D-HH began discussions to form the group in May. The new physician group, which has tentatively been named Dartmouth-Hitchcock Bennington, will combine the variety of practices that are currently operated by SVHC with those of D-HH. The arrangement is expected to be completed by summer 2012, according to the report.
Thomas A. Dee, president and CEO of SVHC, said the partnership should help both organizations' recruiting efforts. "Nationally, a physician shortage makes recruiting top-quality physicians a greater challenge than ever before. Working with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health will improve our ability to recruit new physicians to our area and increase the types of services we can provide to our region," Mr. Dee said in the release.
