Connecticut's Greenwich Hospital Enters JV With Surgeons for Ambulatory Surgery Center

Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital and Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists, based in Greenwich, have announced a joint-venture ambulatory surgery center agreement.

Under the agreement, surgeons from ONS will perform procedures at Greenwich Hospital's Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Ambulatory Surgical Center one day a week, according to a news release.

The ASC, which features four ORs, will operate under the name Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Center of Greenwich. It is expected to perform 1,200 procedures during its first year of operation.

''We are very excited about our new relationship with the hospital," said ONS President Dr. John Crowe, in the release. "ONS and Greenwich Hospital are at the forefront of the evolution of healthcare. Across the country, physician groups and hospitals are combining their resources to provide more convenient and better care for patients. The partnership with Greenwich Hospital in the ASC will provide patients with the benefits of the latest surgical technology and the convenience of a same-day center."

The most common surgical cases to be moved from the hospital to the ASC include shoulder and knee arthroscopies, ACL reconstruction, and foot, hand and minimally invasive spine procedures.

The shift of these patients to the surgery center from the hospital will open up OR slots for inpatient surgeries at the hospital.
