Children's Hospital of Atlanta physician trudges one mile in snow, ice to treat patients

Dean McKenzie, MD, chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Children's Hospital of Atlanta, walked one mile through snow and ice to ensure his patients received proper care after winter weather shut down numerous roads in the city Thursday, reports Fox Carolina.

When icy roads prevented Dr. McKenzie from driving to work, he decided to make the journey on foot.

The hospital shared a post on Facebook commending the physician and other staff for their dedication to patient care.

"Thank you to the men and women on our staff who made it possible to continue with surgeries, procedures and exams as winter weather swirled outside this week," the post reads.
