Centerstone Health Partners, a subsidiary of Nashville, Tenn.-based Centerstone, a behavioral healthcare provider, and Unity Physician Partners, an integrated healthcare provider, have formed a joint venture that will establish integrated care clinics to provide physical and behavioral health services to underserved patients.
The integrated care clinics will have both primary care providers and behavioral health providers available to patients. According to the news release, having primary care and behavioral health providers under one roof will promote care coordination and collaboration.
"We know the vital connection between physical and mental health, but for decades primary care and mental health providers have not effectively collaborated," David Guth Jr., CEO of Centerstone, said in the release. "Our goal with this joint venture is to eliminate this disconnect, creating a bridge that allows primary care and mental health providers to work together to improve the overall health of our patients."
The joint venture will establish six integrated clinics in existing Centerstone locations — four in Tennessee and two in Indiana — which will open later this year. Then, the partners plan to open five to six integrated clinics every six months.
