New Bern, N.C.-based CarolinaEast Health System is expected to acquire East Carolina Internal Medicine based in Pollocksville, N.C., by Jan. 1, 2011, according to a Sun Journal report.
Ray Leggett, president and CEO of the CarolinaEast, said that although the system is acquiring practices it is committed to helping independent physicians meet regulatory and reimbursement pressure "in any way we can," according to the report.
