The California Association of Physician Groups is endorsing CMS' new plans to allow formation of new Pioneer accountable care organizations for more highly integrated organizations, according to a release by CAPG.
"I expect there will be positive reaction and interest among those likely to qualify," said CAPG President Donald Crane. He called the Pioneer ACOs, unveiled last week, "a far-sighted and sensible approach to accelerate the adoption of coordinated care."
"There are many physician groups, particularly in California, that already have a high level of experience and sophistication in coordinating care for patients in a way that lowers costs, improves care and makes populations healthier," Mr. Crane added. CAPG members represent nearly 60,000 physicians providing care to 15 million people.
