The California Association of Physician Groups, which represents physician groups and affiliates in 22 states across the country, has opened an office in Washington, D.C., to ensure accountable care remains a priority for Congress and President Barack Obama's administration.
CAPG also hired Mara McDermott as director of federal affairs to head the lobbying effort.
"We represent physician groups in almost half of the states in the country and applaud the proliferation of coordinated and accountable healthcare based on prospective payments to providers. This creates the right incentives for providers to be proactive in promoting population health and delivering the right care at the right time," Donald Crane, president and CEO of CAPG, said in a release.
