Athens Regional to host 45-resident training program

Athens (Ga.) Regional Medical Center announced Friday it earned accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to launch an internal medicine residency program.

The three-year program will provide slots for 45 residents, with 15 residents training each year, making it the largest program in its region, according to a statement. The program will include a primary care track and business of medicine curricula.

Recruitment for the program is expected to begin this fall and the first class is slated to begin in July 2016.
