Anthem Blue Cross, Sharp Community Medical Group and Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers will pilot an accountable care organization, according to a release from Anthem.
The ACO, for select Anthem PPO members, will emphasize coordination of care among providers, focusing on preventive care and chronic care management.
In Nov. 2010, Anthem announced a pilot ACO with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health in New Hampshire. And earlier this month, the company announced a bundled payment initiative for total knee replacements with SSM Health Care-St. Louis.
